I am John Ball, a retired computer consultant, of McLean, VA. I was active in church choirs, singing and directing, in earlier years. I also played dance bands (trumpet), big band jazz, and in local versions of broadway musical orchestras for thirty year or so. I enjoy keyboards but I never learned to play more than hymns and simple classics.

By contracting to remove organs from churches being updated I assembled about 60 ranks of pipes (Hook&Hastings, Lewis & Hitchcock, Moeller, etc.)  Various insurmountable challenges got in the way of using these pipes so I sold them.  I am now building a console appropriate for Hauptwerk organs (www.crumhorn-labs.com).  Still a great hobby even if the pipe sounds come from a computer.
