Hey List Guys. I'm fixin' to hook up a set of chimes to The Monster In = =3D The Cellar. I have a vague idea to build a relay for 'em outa reed =3D relays a la Radio Shack. Anybody built one of these critters have any =3D suggestions, or any ideas or a cheaper source of parts? My Peterson =3D relay has a set of chime drivers (- output), but I still need the relay. =3D Inquiring Minds Want To Know, Dave Heimer Dave & Margie Heimer

Earlier this year I bought some 12vdc relays from Jameco.com for 8 cents each. Can't beat that price, no where. The contacts were rated 20 amps but = at 12 volts. Maybe the insulation is not rated for 120 volts. Don't know = about that. But if your chime solenoids are 12 - 24 volts DC these relays would = do fine. The coil draws about 100 ma. I think all of the above data is = correct, don't have the catalog handy. I planned to use them for a roll player = and/or a Rogers Glock. They are a little clickity but that's a minor problem. Hi Dave, Get a set of relays from an outfit like MCM Electronics. They run less than a buck a piece - WAY cheaper than Radio Wreck (sorry prejudice showing). www.mcmelectronics.com <http://www.mcmelectronics.com> They have nice little ones that mount on a PC board . The coil is 12 Vdc and the contacts are rated at 1 amp which should be plenty. John V
